THURSDAY MORNING'S BIG STORIES

1- Pellegrini laments Champions League exit but claims he has no regrets

Manchester City were bundled out of the Champions League by Real Madrid last night, but manager Manuel Pellegrini claims he has no regrets over the way the side set up against Real Madrid.
City lacked attacking verve on the ball and defended in numbers behind it with Madrid dominating possession.
"No, I think we worked very well," Pellegrini responded when asked if he made a mistake with the defensive set up.
"Real Madrid could not create chances, but after that work you have to create and have players who can do work in the final third but we couldn't."

Bale and Zidane thrilled, Pellegrini claims 'difference was minimal'

Pellegrini felt as if City didn't deserve to lose, said the difference between the sides was "minimal", and called the 20th-minute goal "very lucky". Gareth Bale's cross into the box deflected off Fernando, giving the Madrid team the lead and the eventual victory.

2- England captain Dylan Hartley set to return after March concussion

England captain Dylan Hartley is likely return to the Northampton starting line up this weekend, coming back to action for the first time since his concussion against France in March.

Hartley returned to full training for his Northampton this week, with England manager Eddie Jones assured Hartley will lead the Three Lions team for a summer tour in Australia if he can pass the required fitness tests.
Hartley was carried off the ground on a stretcher in March, as he was accidentally struck in the head by French prop Uini Atonio and knocked out by the impact. He later returned to celebrate lifting the trophy in the Six Nations tournament.

3- Great Britain's medal clean up at the IPC Swimming European Championships

Great Britain took out three paralympic gold medals on day four of the IPC Swimming European Championships in Portugal.
Charlotte Henshaw, Stephanie Slater and Scott Quin all walked away with gold in their respective events. Quin took out the 100m breaststroke over Marc Evers, while Stephanie Slater won the S8 100m butterfly and Henshaw took out the SB6 breaststroke title she had also won back in 2009.
Henshaw was ecstatic with the victory, reflecting on the warm up it was for the Paralympic Games in Rio.
"A lot of my main rivals aren't European but it's always nice to come and test yourself. You always want to perform well in those big finals and this is really good prep."
