Manchester City's Champions League hopes are hanging by a thread after they blew a 2-0 lead in drawing 2-2 at CSKA Moscow courtesy of a dismal second-half display at an empty ground.
Manuel Pellegrini's side seemed to be coasting to victory with Sergio Aguero (29) and James Milner (38) apparently leaving City destined to claim their first win of the campaign.
But they never showed up in the second half and were severely punished as Seydou Doumbia netted from close range before conning the referee to win a penalty with four minutes left when he dived in front of Aleksandar Kolarov.
Bebars Natcho planted the penalty beyond Joe Hart to leave City's prospects potentially in ruins with only two points accumulated from their opening three group matches.
In truth, City have nobody to blame for themselves after becoming complacent and error-strewn in a stadium that had no fans due CSKA's supporters rioting in Rome, the latest in a string of violent and racist incidents involving the Russian club.

KEY MOMENTS
29' GOAL! Aguero slides the ball into the empty net from the Dzeko pass. Easy finish after Dzeko had beaten the offside trap. Great pass from Silva. City lead 1-0 in Moscow.
37' GOAL! Milner tuckes the ball into the net from the Aguero volley after Zabaleta had picked out his compatriot. Another fine City goal. They lead 2-0.
38' CHANCE! Milner hits the post on the run. So close to the third goal. Looks like Dzeko was denied a penalty. He seemed to be taken out late. Ignashevich with a clear foul on Dzeko. Should have been a penalty, and probably a red card that would have reduced CSKA to 10 men.
64' GOAL! Doumbia slides the ball into the net from the Musa cross. CSKA right back in this match trailing 2-1.
85' PENALTY TO CSKA! Doumbia goes down under pressure. Clear dive under pressure from Kolarov. But the referee has bought it.
86' GOAL! Hart dived to his left, but couldn't keep the ball out as Natcho plants home a fine penalty. It is 2-2 now. City have been dreadful in this second half.

TALKING POINT
Are City heading out of the Champions League at the group stage? There is every chance that this could be it for City. Pellegrini feels his side can collect nine points from their final three matches, but it looks to be a daunting task. They must hope Bayern thump Roma in their next two games, but that looks like a forlorn hope with City perhaps needing maximum points from their remaining games. City have really blown it big style in Moscow.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Ahmed Musa (CSKA Moscow) - Made all the difference for the home side as he played provider for Doumbia's first goal, and generally created mayhem with City unforgivably taking their foot of the gas.
