Angelo Ogbonna scored in the final minute of extra time of West Ham’s replay with Liverpool, sending the Hammers through to the fifth round of the FA Cup.
The defender nodded home a towering header in the 122nd minute to seal the win in a match that had seemed to be going to penalties.
His dramatic late intervention means that West Ham now go on to meet Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.
The first half was an open contest, with Joey O’Brien and Dimitri Payet both hitting the post for West Ham and Coutinho doing the same for the visitors.

West Ham broke the deadlock in the final minute of the half though, when Michail Antonio’s controlled volley found the far corner.
Liverpool levelled three minutes into the second half, and it came courtesy of a smart free-kick by Coutinho, who rolled it along the surface as the West Ham wall jumped in unison.
Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi came off the bench and provided spark for the visitors, Christian Benteke squandering a number of excellent chances for the visitors before Ogbonna stepped up to seal the tie in dramatic circumstances.

KEY MOMENTS

16’ – POST! O’Brien gets forward and rattles Mignolet’s left post with an effort just on the edge of the box via a deflection from Lucas.
34’ – DOUBLE CHANCE LIVERPOOL: A loose ball from Reid is pounced upon by Benteke. He cuts back to Coutinho who rattles the post! Randolph again saves Benteke’s header from the resultant corner.
45’ – GOAL! West Ham 1-0 Liverpool: Antonio fires the Hammers ahead after being picked out by a great Valencia cross.
48’ – GOAL! West Ham 1-1 Liverpool: Lovely work from Coutinho, who rolls it under the jumping Hammers wall and into the corner.
66’ – PENALTY SHOUT: Valencia is clearly tugged back by Ilori whilst trying to meet Antonio’s cross. Liverpool are fortunate.
90+2’ – GOOD SAVE RANDOLPH: An early free-kick is played into Sturridge and it falls back to Ibe, who forces the Hammers keeper into a save on the stretch.
99’ – CHANCE BENTEKE: He somehow plants wide on the volley from near the penalty spot. He’d score that eight out of ten.
100’ – CHANCE BENTEKE: Another chance for Benteke in as many minutes and it’s a great save from Randolph to deny him. Should have scored though.
121’ – GOAL! West Ham 2-1 Liverpool: Ogbonna wins it for West Ham with a great, towering header from Payet’s free kick.

TALKING POINT

How did the referee and linesman miss Ilori’s tug back? He clearly had a hold of Valencia’s arm and most people in the stadium would have seen it as a clear penalty. Not the officials, though.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Angelo Ogbonna (West Ham) Seems the obvious choice for his dramatic winner but was full of energy and running for the full 122 minutes and made some crucial defensive tackles.
