Rumour: Liverpool lining up bid for Dani Alves

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Barcelona full-back Dani Alves, according to reports in Spain and England.
Mundo Deportivo cite claims from the English media that say Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is considering a move for the Brazil international as he isn’t convinced by the Reds’ current right-back, Glen Johnson.
It was reported earlier in the week that Barca had told Alves he was free to leave Camp Nou this summer and Alves is said to be mulling over his options.
Paris Saint-Germain were linked with an approach for Alves back in May but MD add the French club appear to have ruled out signing the 31-year-old.
Liverpool would pay just over €6m (£4.8m) to sign Alves, it’s been claimed.

There appears to be little doubt that Barcelona want rid of Alves given coach Luis Enrique is pursuing a move for Fiorentina's Juan Cuadrado, but is Liverpool a logical destination? Rodgers described Johnson as "one of the best full-backs in the world" last season and the suggestion he would replace him with a fading talent who offers little in defence - despite his brilliance going forward - is hard to credit. This one seems rather unlikely to us....
