In a game that saw the momentum flow this way and that, Monaco defender Fabio Coentrao looked like he had won the game with his header midway through the second half - but Georges-Kevin Nkoudou steered home Lucas Ocampos' wayward strike eight minutes from time to restore parity for the final time.
Marseille had taken the lead through Romain Alessandrini, only for the unlikely figure of Almamy Toure to strike twice to give the visitors the advantage shortly before half-time.
Michy Batshuayi then bundled home following a goalmouth scramble five minutes in the second half to set the stage for Coentrao's intervention - before N'Koudou ensured the game finished as it had started.
The result means Monaco remain seventh in the Ligue 1 standings, still five points ahead of their opponents.
Elsewhere on Sunday, Saint-Etienne cruised to a 3-0 win over Guingamp.
Romain Hamouma opened the scoring for Les Verts shortly after half-time, before Valentin Eysseric and Nolan Roux both notched to complete the victory.
“We struggled in the first half because it was difficult to find space in Guingamp’s well-organized defensive lines,” Eysseric said.
“It was easier after we scored our first goal.”
Caen also won by three, as they put Bordeaux to the sword in an emphatic 4-1 win that put them second in the table.
Syam Ben Youssef needed just six minutes to open the scoring for the visitors, before Damien Da Silva gave them full control shortly after half-time.
A Cedric Carrasso own goal and Andy Delort's finish then more than wrapped up the points, with Enzo Crivelli's 90th minute strike barely even a consolation for the hosts.
