Lewis Hamilton reveals he got dining etiquette advice from the Queen

Hamilton, who was appearing as a guest on The Graham Norton Show on the BBC, referred to the Queen as a “sweet woman” and explained how she gave him advice regarding his etiquette at the dining table.

"I got invited to a lunch and was sitting next to the Queen,” Hamilton said on the show’s recording.

"I was excited and started to talk to her but she said, pointing to my left, 'No, you speak that way first and I'll speak this way and then I'll come back to you.'

"She is a sweet woman and we talked about how she spends her weekends, houses and music. She is really cool."

It was a surprising revelation from Hamilton, who has recently talked about his new ‘rock and roll lifestyle’ in attending movie premieres and big social events.

“Jumping off the boat, jumping off rocks, jet skiing, all those things I like to do, I still do them,” he told the Press Association earlier this month.

“That's me going wild. There's no other way I want to go. What else is there to do? 

“I am already living life to the full.”

The Brit, who currently leads the World Championship standings, has seen his profile rise steadily with two F1 titles.

He signed a new £100 million deal with Mercedes in May with the three-year contract to keep him at the team until the end of 2018.

Actor Ewan McGregor, singer Rita Ora and comedian Jack Whitehall were also among Norton's star-studded line-up with the show to air on BBC One at 10:35pm on Friday evening.
